
By utilising low global warming potential HFO refrigerant R1234ze, and featuring full-inverter technology for high efficiency operation, the i-FX2-W-G04 is the ideal solution for commercial comfort applications that require variable load operation, space efficiency and minimal environmental impact such as offices, hospitals and universities. Furthermore, as the unit is designed for inside installation, the i-FX2-W-G04 Chiller is ideal for locations close to sea environments as expensive anti-corrosion treatments can be avoided.
The new chillers cover a range from 400kW to 1,245kW, with all sizes using VSD screw compressors on two completely independent refrigerant circuits. Also included are electronic expansion valves, a high performing shell and tube condenser as well as tube hybrid (flooded/falling film) evaporators.
High Efficiency Operation
The new i-FX2-W-G04 inverter-driven water-cooled chiller and heat pump range from Mitsubishi Electric is engineered to be at the forefront of green innovation in comfort cooling and heating applications. All-Round Sustainability
By combining exceptional annual efficiency with the use of low GWP refrigerant, i-FX2-W-G04 tackles both indirect (due to the primary energy consumption) and the direct global warming impact. Resulting the perfect choice for any new, forward-looking heating and cooling system.
The environmental impact of refrigerants is measured by two parameters:
- Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP)
- Global Warming Potential (GWP)
While in the past focus was on reducing ODP values to 0, new regulations encourage a greater emphasise on reducing the level of GWP.

These new chillers and heat pumps cover a range from 398kW to 1,241kW, with all sizes using VSD screw compressors on two completely independent refrigerant circuits. Also included are electronic expansion valves, a high performing shell and tube condenser as well as the new Hybrid Falling Film Evaporator.
Wide Operating Range
The standard units have a chilled water temperature range from 4°C up to 15°C with a corresponding condenser water range between 20°C up to 52°C.
The option of adding a High Water Temperature (HWT) Kit can further extend the unit’s operating range to reach condenser water temperatures of up to 72°C, this is ideal for hot water heat pump applications or chiller installs in high ambient temperature locations.
VSD Screw Compressors
The VSD screw compressors ensure perfect matching of capacity to load. With integrated frequency converter and Variable Vi technology the unit can be accurately optimised to the demand.
Two independent refrigerant circuits offer reliability, easy maintenance as well as a low continuous minimum capacity ratio.
Variable Speed Drive
Integrated and compact frequency converter, refrigerant cooled, for outstanding seasonal efficiency and wide capacity regulation.
Smart Variable Vi logic
The integrated Vi slider adapts the internal geometry to the current operating condition, ensuring the best efficiency.

Acoustic Options

The i-FX2-W-G04 Range can be supplied with acoustic treatment. Silent operation with an optional compressor enclosure (-6dBA), or fully integral acoustic enclosure to further reduce sound levels (-16dBA).
Electronic Control W3000+
W3000+ control is available with the new KIPlink (Keyboard In your Pocket) user interface. Based on Wi-Fi technology, it allows operation of the unit directly from the smartphone or tablet.
Integration into third party BMS systems using ModBus, BACnet, BACnet-over-IP, LonWorks, Konnex, SNMP protocols supervision is possible. A dedicated wall-mounted keypad option can be used for remote control of all the functions.
Group Controls with Dynamic Master
When connected to a group of chillers, the unit’s LAN functions can manage load sharing, sequencing, active redundancy, priority of resource activation and alarm management. The system's stability is ensured even in case of alarm or malfunctioning thanks to the Dynamic Master logic.
Variable Primary Flow
Variable Hydronic Flow control is standard (VPF.E function). Variable pump speed management based on load demand furthers energy savings and the variable flow ensures the units also function in critical working conditions.
