Re:Vision – Sight Correction Centre

The Re:Vision – Sight Correction Centre, is a private eye clinic designed to meet the varied needs of its patients from standard eye consultations right through to eye surgery.
The Challenge
Medical facilities, whether they have small consulting rooms or larger surgery rooms, come with a list of requirements which can make installing an HVAC system complicated and costly. The Auckland based development had a variety of challenges ranging from a floor of small consulting rooms each needing to provide privacy for the patients, to a surgical theatre requiring a high volume of fresh air filtered to a very high standard, through to a high hot water requirement for sterilisation, cleaning and surgical preparation.
The Mitsubishi Electric Solution
Auckland based Ace Air Conditioning designed a solution to meet all these requirements, while also ensuring the new facilities delivered maximum efficiency for the owner / occupier.
For the consulting rooms, Mitsubishi Electric’s unique City Multi Hybrid Variable Refrigerant Flow (HVRF) System was chosen due to its ability to provide fully independent control efficiently to each space and
negate the need for costly refrigerant leak detectors that require regular maintenance and certification. Other traditional forms of mitigation for refrigerant leaks such as door grilles or door undercuts were
not possible as these would have compromised patient confidentiality.
The surgical theatre had a small Air Handling Unit (AHU) installed to treat and filter the air to the high standard required. To ensure maximum efficiency and comfort, this AHU was teamed with the Mitsubishi
Electric VRF System that also serviced the balance of the surgical floor.
A PWFY-P100VM-E-BU Hot Water Module, capable of producing 70°C hot water, was incorporated in to the third VRF System on this site. By utilising waste heat from the VRF System via the heat exchanger,
it is possible to supply hot water with high efficiencies. This module provides the entire potable hot water requirements for the building – at efficiencies much higher than would normally be
possible with a standard potable hot water system.
An AE200 Touch Screen Central Controller was installed to provide complete system management, including control of supply and extract fans via a DIDO Module attached to the touch screen.
