Mitsubishi Electric has launched its latest Air-Source Chiller and Heat Pump range, the ME(CH/HP)-iS-G07. Available as a cooling only or heat pump version, the ME(CH/HP)-iS-G07 is a versatile solution suitable for comfort as well as IT and process cooling applications from hotels, offices and hospitals to data centres and food processing facilities.
There are seven different capacities available from 50-110kW and three chassis sizes. It is also possible to connect 2 of the same size units, end on end – to double the capacity and extend the range to a maximum 220kW.
With a small footprint and only 1.1m wide, the compact format of the ME(CH/HP)-iS-G07 is logistically efficient and a suitable choice for narrow plant spaces or installations.
Same size units can be connected end on end to double the capacity using a connection kit. This configuration is unique and useful in some tight plant layout configurations. This gives the ME(CH/HP)-is-G07 a total capacity range of 50-220kW.
Up to two modules can be connected.
The ME(CH/HP)-iS-G07 is a three-diamond product and as such carries the Mitsubishi Electric 3 diamond insignia. The entire range has been fully tested through their full operating envelope. System design and manufacturing follow Mitsubishi Electric Japan Quality Standards and processes ensuring this range is of the highest quality standard expected from Mitsubishi Electric. Furthermore key components in the ME(CH/HP)-iS-G07 feature Mitsubishi Electric technology such as the Inverter Compressor and EC Fans - so quietness, quality and efficiency can be relied upon.
The ME(CH/HP)-iS-G07 utilises Mitsubishi Electric inverter scroll compressors to deliver high part load efficiency and low compressor turndown. Larger units use 2 compressors in a tandem arrangement; one fixed speed and one variable speed inverter compressor. This achieves full capacity and efficient operation at part load.
With the New Zealand Government's ratification of the International Kigali Amendment in 2020 sparking a steep phasedown of HFCs, building owners, facility managers and the construction industry have been looking for HVAC systems that deliver high operational efficiency with lower GWP refrigerants used within these systems. This is identified in the products nomenclature as “G07”.
By using R32 with a GWP of 677, the new ME(CH/HP)-iS-G07 Range offers significant environmental benefits over conventional R410A chillers. Furthermore, the use of R32 compatible compressors reduces the total refrigerant charge in the system and ensures a wider operating range.
Operating from just 77dBA (SWL), the ME(CH/HP)-iS-G07 range comes standard with an inverter driven Mitsubishi Electric compressor in an acoustic enclosure and whisper quiet EC fans to deliver low noise performance.

The MECH chiller model can produce chilled water down to minus 12 degrees, making it an ideal solution for process cooling. The ability to provide leaving water temperatures up to 24 degrees also makes the chiller model suitable for IT cooling applications.
As the heat pump MEHP model can generate water up to 65 degrees at -2 ambient, it is ideal for heating in most New Zealand conditions. It can also generate 65 degree water in ambient temperatures up to 30 degrees ideal for domestic hot water production all year round.
MEHP-iS-G07 can produce, alone and without any auxiliary accessories, both medium temperature water for space heating and cooling or domestic hot water up to 65°C. The impressive performance at part load realises annualised efficiencies of 5.29 SEER* and 4.39 SCOP LT**. High efficiency combined with extremely low noise output and compact design makes it suitable for comfort heating and cooling in high density urban environments such as hotels and office buildings.
The large operating range of the cooling only MECH-iS-G07 at low temperatures (down to -12°C leaving water temperature on the evaporator side) and high quality Mitsubishi Electric components provide a reliable and efficient process cooling system where consistent temperatures and dependable operation is a necessity.
MECH-iS-G07 combined with w-MEXT and Hydronic plant connect optimisation control logic creates a complete Mitsubishi Electric system ideal for small scale data centres.
As well as an onboard interface, KIPLINK is available - an innovative user interface based on Wi-Fi technology that allows users to operate the unit directly from a smartphone, tablet or laptop.
KIPLINK can be supplied, either in addition to, or instead of the standard user interface.
