What does HEPA mean?

HEPA stands for ‘high-efficiency particulate air’, or sometimes high-energy particulate arresting filter. HEPA filters are incredibly effective at capturing almost every size of particle. They can capture viruses, bacteria, pollen, PM2.5, allergens, and more. Using the term HEPA has a strict set of requirements.

What does PM2.5 stand for?

PM stands for “Particulate Matter.” It’s a standard created by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and refers to the size of particles, measured in micrometres. The PM Concentration Level is an approximate measurement of how many particles of that size are in a cubic meter. There are three different PM sizes displayed on the Air Purifier.

  • PM10: Particles in the air that are about 1/5 of the diameter of a human hair.
  • PM2.5: Particles in the air that are about 1/20 of the diameter of a human hair.
  • PM1.0: Particles in the air that are about 1/50 of the diameter of a human hair.

What does CADR mean?

CADR stands for “Clean Air Delivery Rate”. CADR is an industry measurement that measures an air cleaner’s effectiveness based on room space and the volume of clean air produced per minute. This shows how well dust, pollen and smoke (the three most common indoor air pollutants) are removed from the air you breathe.

Can I wash the filters in the Mitsubishi Electric ElitePure Air Purifier?

Yes. All the filters in the ElitePure Air Purifier are able to be cleaned. The Pre-Filter features an auto-cleaning function which neatly collects the dust and dirt in the dust box for you to simply empty straight in the bin. The HEPA Filter can be vacuumed. The Active Charcoal and Platinum Catalyst Filters can be removed and soaked in cold or lukewarm water for approximately one hour, then washed in water and allowed to fully dry before putting back in to the unit.

How often should I clean the filters in the Mitsubishi Electric ElitePure Air Purifier?

Dust Box: Approximately once every 4 months the dust box should be emptied.
HEPA Filter: When dirty – we recommend checking to see if it needs to be cleaned at the same time as the dust box.
Platinum Catalyst and Activated Charcoal Filter: When odours are coming from the air outlet.

How often do I need to replace the filters in the Mitsubishi Electric ElitePure Air Purifier?

What does the Smart Search mode in the Mitsubishi Electric ElitePure Air Purifier do?

The Smart Search function directs air in 5 different directions through the louvre searching the room for any pollutants. It will check each directions air quality for 30 seconds before it will move to the next location. If it detects pollutants, it will direct filtered air into that location while sucking the air back into the machine to clean the contaminated air. It will continue doing this until it no longer detects pollutants.
