This stunning Kaiteriteri bach, deliberately created to blend in with its forest surroundings, won the 'Placemakers New Homes $250,000-$350,000' category at the Registered Master Builders 2013 House of the Year awards. The small three-bedroom bach in the bush was built under instruction to leave as much of the vegetation around the site as possible.
Stained to mimic the colour of kanuka bark, this home has a stunning entrance with a sloping window to create a tree house feel while making the link between the split level sleeping and living areas.
Full length glass in every room brings the outside in and the secluded, sun drenched deck is suspended in the native bush. "While simple and straightforward in appearance and finish, the degree of difficulty to achieve this cannot go unnoticed to the discerning eye," the judges said.
When it came to choosing the appliances for this bach the owners selected Mitsubishi Electric products that would be energy efficient, simple to use and stylish.
Two Designer Series Heat Pump systems were selected to ensure the bach was comfortable and cosy year round. The Designer Series was created to suit even those with the most discerning taste so was the perfect fit for this stylish bach. With elegant, clean lines the Designer Series is available in a glossy black, matte silver or classic white – complementing your home’s decor and existing appliances. White models were chosen to complement the light, airy décor of the Kaiteriteri Treehouse. The heat pumps are controlled by a PAR31 wired seven day controller with backlit LCD screen allows you to program up to eight separate start/stop patterns per day over a week.
